It's Always Sunny in Jerusalem

If you know me, then you know its unusual for me to be up at 6a. But jet lag'll do that to you...that and living in a hostel. The combination of extreme exhaustion that put me to sleep at 7p and some less than quiet roommates coming in between the hours of 3a and 4a has me up and ready to attack the day. Except breakfast isn't served until 7a and none of the sites open until 8:30 or 9a. So I figured I would get this blog started.

I want this blog to be a way to share funny/interesting stores and photos. I will try to update as frequently as possible, but I am not promising anything.

But first, the name. I've been reading travel guides for the past few days preparing for the trip. As a result, I know ridiculous facts that I will obviously be passing along to you over the next few weeks. For instance, did you Jerusalem gets almost no rain? Believe it!

"Jerusalem... gets 3,300 hours, 83% of the maximum possible [sun exposure over the year]" (Baedeker 19) (figured I would throw in some MLA formatting for fun).

And of the days when it does rain, "Almost all the rain falls during the winter, largely between December and March, every three to four days on average" (Baedeker 21).

So what does this mean? It means "It's Always Sunny in Jerusalem." It also probably means it's always sweaty in Jerusalem (average temperature 84-91F), but something told me people wouldn't appreciate that title as much.

Here's to deodorant and smelling like sunscreen for the next three months!
